WELCOME TO ARUBA - DAY 25

A Look At What Is Happening Today:
First Visit To Aruba  Dinner At Crystal Dining Room

Although we dined at Silk Road last evening these are the menus from the Crystal Dining Room.

Before dinner we had a drink in the Avenue Saloon.

We then walked around for a little while and we ran into Leo Assmair, Maitre d' of the Crystal Dining Room.

We dined with Linda and Stanley last evening.  Although we first met them on the 2010 World Cruise and sailed with them in 2011, 2012 and now this year, this is the first time we have dined together.  We are almost neighbors on the ship each year as our rooms are just a few rooms apart and we also live in the same state at home.  After all this time it was great to have dinner together and we dined for close to two and one half hours.

We had reservations at Silk Road for 7:30 PM.  This time worked well as Linda and Stanley are in late seating in the Crystal Dining Room (late seating begins at 8:30 PM) and although we have main seating (6:00 PM) we didn't get back to the ship from our tour until around 6:00 PM.

We enjoyed the conversation with Linda and Stanley along with the wonder cuisine, very nice ambience and outstanding service at Silk Road.

These are photos of some of the food items. This is sashimi and one of the Nobu Specials.  Anne Marie has very little sashimi but this is one of the items she will have because the sauces that accompany the sashimi add lots of flavor to the sashimi.

Like, Anne Marie, Linda didn't have any of the other sashimi so Keith ordered sashimi for Stanley and himself.  Anne Marie did have some of the California Roll which is at the bottom of the plate at around 5:00 if this was a clock.

For her Entree, Anne Marie had the Lobster.

Keith went with the Hot Sobu Noodles and Soup and had some scallops added to the soup.

We also had a few other appetizers that we didn't photograph that are some special items that either the two of us have from time to time or Linda and Stanley have from time to time.  So, we each got to try some new items which was nice.

It was a most enjoyable dinner. Special thanks to Albert our Silk Road Waiter who always takes excellent care of us.  He can easily just order the entire dinner for us without us saying anything since he know so very well the types of food items we prefer.

When we arrived back to our room last evening there was a letter from World Cruise Hostess Elise Ivy on our bed along with another rolled up item which our Stewardess Yanina had placed so that Borus was holding it for us.

It is a map of this years World Cruise Itinerary.  We have a pointer which friend Glo had given to us last year when we also received a map similar to this one for the very first time which we use to show the current location of the Crystal Serenity.

We slept very well last evening as we cruised to our next port of call in Aruba.  We left Curacao at around midnight.

Keith enjoyed another early workout in the Fitness Center doing a combination of the elliptical machine and also lifting some free standing weights.

Afterwards, he stopped by the Lido Cafe for some coffee. He spoke with the Lido Deck Stewards and did his e-mail using his iPad.

Lido Deck Steward, Jun, helped Keith with his coffee.

Friend Linda, arrived to the Lido Cafe a few minutes before Keith left and they chatted for a couple of minutes.

Before breakfast, Anne Marie walked for about 30 minutes on the Promenade Deck and then we enjoyed Breakfast in our room.

Afterwards, we spent a little while taking some final video for Keith's video project.
Believe it or not this visit  to Organjestad represents our first visit to Aruba.

Organjestad is not only the largest city of Aruba, but also the capital.  It is home to approximately 30,000 people.

Tourism is indeed the major driver of the economy.

We didn't do any of the shore excursions today as this mainly involved beach/water type of activities.  Like many on the ship we walked around the nearby town.  The weather was nice when we began our walk but did get quite a bit warmer as we finished up.  We walked close to two hours.

We shared some good laughs as we walked around the nearby area.

We have to say the nearby area was very nice and included parks, some government buildings and both high end stores and other shopping.  As we walked we ran into many of our fellow guests.

There were two other ships in port with us including the Royal Caribbean Vision Of the Seas.

As we walked back to the pier we had a nice view of the Crystal Serenity.

Back at the pier we ran into several friends including Allan and Helen, Bob and Glo, Ken and Lynn, and Lynn and Buddy.

We enjoyed lunch on the ship at the Lido Cafe and made salad entrees.

Keith played Paddle Tennis in the afternoon and then met up with friend Bob.

Anne Marie walked the Promenade Deck and also spent time out by the pool area.

This evening we will dine at the Crystal Dining Room

We wanted to end with two thoughts for the day.  The first one includes a photo from a park we visited at today.

TODAY'S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY............
