EN ROUTE TO AMAZON RIVER - DAY 77

A Look At What Is Happening Today:

Enrichment & Other Activities ✔  Dinner At Crystal Dining Room ✔  Across The Pond Production Show

These are the dinner menus from the Crystal Dining Room from last evening.

The evening entertainment featured a Tribute to the Great Crooners which was performed by Les Lankhorst.

Before dinner we sat at the Crystal Plaza with friend John and Linda.

We listened to the music of pianist John Mentis.  We always enjoy listening to John perform before dinner and he plays a wide range of songs.

Last evening we dined at Prego with friends Jim and Judy and one other couple who they knew, but we had not yet met.  That couple is on their first Crystal Cruise and made it the full World Cruise.

As this World Cruise adventure is winding down there are many people who we are dining with at the Specialty Restaurants.  At the same time we really enjoy dining in the Crystal Dining Room so we are trying to balance all of this.  In a few cases, we plan to have lunch with some fellow guests as there are just not enough open dinners to make plans to dine together for dinner.

Our waiter for the evening was Costa.

We began our meal with appetizers.

Keith had a pasta which was one of the additional entrees which he had as a small portion.

Anne Marie had a lobster appetizer. Both were very tasty.

We both had salads for our next course.  Anne Marie had the Caesar Salad and Keith had his standing order salad.

For our entrees, we both had the additional Seafood Entree which was salmon, with potatoes and asparagus wrapped in Prosciutto with some added spice. The combination of all of the ingredients made for a very tasty entree.

For dessert, Anne Marie had Gelato and Keith had a fruit plate.

Once again, we slept very well last evening.  You could feel the movement of the ship a little more then normal, but overall the seas were relatively calm.

Keith was back up early in the morning and worked out on the Elliptical Machine.  After he changed, he stopped by the Lido Cafe for coffee.  As we mentioned the other day at this time of day it is now completely light outside so the Cafe is quite bright.  He spoke briefly with some fellow guests such as friend Linda.

As he does on most days, he brought back some coffee to the room for Anne Marie to enjoy before she took her one hour morning walk.

Before we knew it there was a knock on the door and it was Rao with our breakfast.  He had a little hand written card from World Cruise Hostess Elise Ivy to the two of us wishing us a wonderful day.  He had just seen them as our floor is where they broadcast the Daily Morning Show.  As we do each sea day while enjoying our breakfast we did watch this show with Elise and Cruise Director Gary Hunter.

They did open the show mentioning briefly about the person who was taken off the ship yesterday.  The summarized the procedure which was that the local authorities come on board to be sure that all of the paperwork was in order.  Once that is completed, then the patient along with the Ships Medical Team (Ships Doctor and we believe one of the Nurses) go in the boat that takes the patient over to shore where they are met by the on-land Medical Team.  Once all is in order, then the Medical Team returns to the ship.  We wanted to mention that the city where all of this took place is Recife, Brazil.  All of this was done flawlessly and once again our thoughts and prayers go out to the guest and those traveling with the guest.

Gary and Elise then covered some of the highlights of the day.  There were a lot of good laughs between Gary and Elise and we laughed too with all of the humor.

There were a couple of good lectures in the morning.  Special Interest Lecturer Ed Larson spoke about the discovery of the Amazon by the Europeans.  This was followed by a presentation by Dr. Jay Wolff who spoke about the role that Catholic Missionaries played in  South America. In the afternoon, travel specialist Dr. John McMichan spoke about the Healthy Traveler and gave some very good tips on how to avoid some of the common ailments that can plague travelers.

Keith also met with the Shore Excursion Manager, Daniel, to inquire about some tours and we really appreciated all of his help and guidance.

For lunch, we were back at the Lido Cafe where we each enjoyed nice salad entrees.  We try to change up some of the items for the salads whether it is the type of lettuce to some of the other salad items we add to the salad.  We will add a small portion of poultry or seafood to the salad and what we add depends on what is available and from time to time Keith will add items such as some grilled vegetables or even steamed vegetables to the salad.

After lunch, Keith played Paddle Tennis.  The weather was quite nice and we had both courts in use and a really good turnout which is always nice.  While Keith was playing Tennis, Anne Marie walked for an hour afternoon and shorty afterwards she attended afternoon Yoga.

Keith met up with friend Bob later in the afternoon along with a couple of other fellow guests.

Overall seas continue to be good. We have a good tail wind and are moving briskly at a speed of over 23 knots per hour.

This evening we have been invited to go to the Captain's Quarters for drinks/canapés before dinner.  We will post about this tomorrow as we will about dinner.  This evening we are back at the Crystal Dining Room for dinner after being away for three consecutive nights.
TODAY'S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY............
